We need homeostasis in the folate pathway to biochemically avoid cancer (as a mechanism). The forms of folate all act in different pathways. Methyl folates perform in methylation. Formyl forms perform in cell turnover. Folinic acid is a FORMYL form of folate. It’s already past the decision point of which folate is produced. It’s irreversible after that (except for extreme measures but why would you ever intentionally max out cell turnover knowing that’ll mess with this balance and turn carcinoge

Folate is not the same thing as folic acid. Folate is a beneficial nutrient found in plant foods, and synthetic folic acid from supplements and fortified foods is linked to an increased risk of cancer. Folic acid is often given to pregnant women to prevent neural tube defects.
