On September 14, 1974 a song written by Bob Marley topped the U.S charts. It was the first and perhaps the only time one of his songs reached the pinnacle, and it was via Eric Clapton’s version of “I Shot The Sheriff”. Mr. Clapton, while rightfully revered as a guitar god, is quite a songwriter himself, so certainly his choice was one that showed a deep respect for one of Jamaica’s favorite sons.
