On Wednesday, Apple launched its new Digital ID feature, having announced in June that it would debut as part of iOS 26. Travelers can now use their passports to create a Digital ID, which is valid for use at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints at over 250 airports. It is not currently eligible for international travel.
The launch of Digital ID for passports follows a similar feature for driver's licenses and state IDs. Using Apple's Wallet app, residents in several US states can scan their IDs or licenses to store them on their iPhones. Certain states offer their own variations for storing a digital wallet.
