Brian Brobbey delivered a brace as the Netherlands ran up the score against Sweden and wrested back control of their own World Cup fate.

The Netherlands hammered Sweden 5-1 in a statement performance at the 2026 World Cup. The Dutch were held to a 2-2 draw by Japan in their opening game but wasted little time making an impact against the Swedes,

Brian Brobbey finished two great crosses early to put the Dutch in a commanding position, and they’ve had a couple of chances to put the result beyond doubt. But Sweden, much to their credit, have had plenty of chances and should have scored at least once. They’ve had nine shots to five from the Netherlands.

Now the Oranje will try to get back on track against the Group F leaders, Sweden. The Swedes bullied Tunisia in their first game, collecting three points in what was a 5-1 victory. A win against the Dutch would win Group F for Sweden, sending them into the Round of 32 after just two games.
